MADISON - St. Bernard loaded up the buses Tuesday afternoon and headed 50 miles north to the Madison Bowling Center for their first bowling match of the season, and the Lady Saints came home winners.

In the first game of the night, the 10-pin classic game, the St. Bernard Lady Saints downed Lindsay Lane 470 to 321.

“The girls did really well,” St. Bernard coach Tyler Ayers said of his team. “We have only had two practices.”

Leading the for the Lady Saints was Gracie Lloyd, who rolled a 137.  Aiden Adcock also broke the 100-point plateau with a 111.  Next was Claire Sanders with a 90, followed by Abigail Curtis with a 72 and Mai Thy Nguyen and Helen Kim combining for a 60.

In the three Bakers games, the Saint Bernard Lady Saints took two out of three with scores of 69-65,70-83 and 71-63. Combined with the 10-pin game, it was good enough to give the Lady Saints a 680-532 match win to start the season off with a 1-0 record.

BOYS

In the boys’ match, the Saints played hard but came up short of the victory. Lindsay Lane took the 10-pin game by a score of 536-438, however Saint Bernard had two players bowl in the 100s.

Alex Shoaff led all bowlers with a 131. Blake Burman followed with a 101. Leo Hsieh rolled a 79 while Jordan McCormick threw a 64 and Luke Marti and William Tang combined for a 63.

Saint Bernard fell in all three Bakers games by finals of 71-142, 87-116 and 107-110 to drop the match 703-904. The loss gives the Saints a 0-1 start on the season.

“I’m very pleased,” Ayers said about the overall performance of both of his squads.

The Saints and Lady Saints will next hit the lanes Nov. 2 when they take on Cullman and West Point in a tri-match at the Cullman Bowling Center.
