HOLLY POND - The 61st annual Holly Pond Thanksgiving Tournament continued on Thursday, with the Good Hope Raiders and Cullman Bearcats coming out on top.

Good Hope 69, J.B. Pennington 44

Good Hope was solid for the entire game; the Raiders easily handled the Tigers.

The Raiders opened up a 36-20 lead at the half and went from there.

For the entirety of the second half, Good Hope banged around the Tigers both inside and out, flirting with the 30-point hot clock, but never reached the magic number. However, the Raiders still cruised to a 25-point victory.

They will take the floor again Friday at 7:45 p.m. vs. Holly Pond.

Cullman 70, Holly Pond 58

It was a slugfest when Cullman and Holly Pond took to the floor Thanksgiving night.

The Bearcats opened the game on a 6-2 run, but Holly Pond settled in and answered with a 7-0 run of its own.  After the dust settled, Cullman had a slim 18-17 lead.

The second was a mirror image of the first with both teams playing hard and not giving an inch. The result was a 29-29 tie at the half.

Holly Pond came out hot in the third and went up by as much as seven, but Cullman weathered the storm and came back, taking a one-point lead, 50-49 heading to the fourth.

The fourth belonged to the Bearcats; they were money from the free throw line, helping build their lead to 10, allowing Cullman to keep the Broncos at arm’s length and win the game 70-58.

Cullman will face J.B. Pennington Friday at 6:30 p.m.

Also on Friday, the JV games:

Good Hope vs. J.B. Pennington at 4 p.m. in the third-place game

Cullman vs. Holly Pond at 5:15 p.m. for the championship
