CULLMAN, Ala. – On Friday morning, to commemorate the 21st anniversary of 9/11, Cash Express of Hanceville visited first responders at fire stations in Cullman and Hanceville, Cullman EMS, the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, the Cullman Police Department and Hanceville Police Department to deliver cakes and hear their stories remembering 9/11.

Cash Express Assistant Manager Crystal Helton, who made the deliveries, said, “Cash Express has done this for several years, but this was my first time having the opportunity to be the one going out to show not only the company’s appreciation but my own personal appreciation. We do this to not only remember the lives lost on 9/11, but to also show our continued appreciation to the first responders past and present.”

Each department was given a poster with the Policeman’s Prayer, Firefighter’s Prayer or Paramedic’s Prayer signed by members of Cash Express and the community.

“I will say hearing all of their stories of where they were on 9/11 was hard. One of the officers from the Cullman Police Department said he was in 10th grade sitting in class when they found out, and he knew then what he would do. He joined the military after graduating and a year later was in Iraq,” said Helton. “These men and women deserve to be celebrated every day in my opinion.”
