CRANE HILL, Ala. – Arrowhead RV Park is typically a destination known for its relaxed vibe and laid-back residents. The gravel lots looking over the lake were meant to be a serene retreat away from reality. On Saturday, March 23, the park, instead of its known and loved camper’s paradise, was transformed into Easter Central, with egg hunts, inflatables and the Easter Bunny himself.

The event, a first for the park, was a soft opening and introduction to the recently renovated areas. The campground took advantage of the winter decline in tourism and travel and revitalized and renewed portions of the park and public access areas.

“Our restaurant and park are both being updated in so many ways, and we can’t wait for all of our guests to enjoy them this spring and summer,” Lisa Watts, an Arrowhead employee and one of the event organizers, said previously.

Speaking of the Easter event, she said, ”With it being free, we do not make any profit. But we’ve worked hard on improvements to the park and want to share that with the public. It’s taken a lot of time and money and needs to be utilized and enjoyed this year.”

While the event shone a light on the renovated areas of the park, the community who gathered together to provide a fun afternoon and over 4,000 eggs was on display. The collective of campers, residents and park employees purchased, stuffed and ultimately secured expert-level hiding spots for each of the colorful tokens for the community’s children to find and enjoy.

Vendors flocked to the first-time festival, showcasing their arts, goods and personal pieces; a few booths were set up just to show the beauty of the season, as well as the patrons who chose to stop in. Nikita Braids was on-site outfitting the littlest of visitors with rainbow braids and bubble braid extensions; Southdown Acre Farms was present and perfectly placed with its goat milk soaps, lotions and balms.

At the end of the day, Watts was filled with gratitude for the groups and families who chose to spend their spring day at the park, becoming part of the Arrowhead family in the process.

“We had so much fun!” said Watts. “Thank you to all those who made it possible.”
