Mayor gives road work update

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman City Council on Monday night had a light agenda, with Mayor Woody Jacobs giving an update on ongoing road work in the city.  

Jacobs said he expects the work along Second Avenue Northeast in front of city hall and along Clark Street to be completed soon. The mayor also said the City will begin paving Dripping Springs Road, to 5 Points, and it will continue to West Main Avenue. Jacobs also reported that Birmingham Street to U.S. Highway 31, over to Lee Street.

“There will be some inconveniences when we do that work, but it will be much appreciated to all those people who live down there after we get finished,” he said.

The following resolutions and ordinances were passed:

  • Resolution No. 2023-43 to approve a grant application by Cullman County Museum for an elevator upgrade
  • Second reading of Ordinance No. 2023-22 to annex 447 County Road 1466 as R-1 District, which received a favorable recommendation from the Planning Commission
  • Second reading of Ordinance No. 2023-23 to annex 332 County Road 1467 as R-1 District, which received a favorable recommendation from the Planning Commission
  • Second reading of Ordinance No. 2023-24 to annex two properties on County Road 700 as R-1 District, which received a favorable recommendation from the Planning Commission
  • Resolution No. 2023-44 to authorize the mayor to accept bids for electrical equipment and notify the lowest responsible bidder.
