NWS Huntsville cancels Tropical Storm Warning; Wind Advisory in effect from 3 p.m. to 4 a.m.

HUNTSVILLE – The National Weather Service in Huntsville has CANCELED all watches and warnings for its coverage area as Irma continues to weaken. The Cullman area is now under a WIND ADVISORY from 3 p.m. today until 4 a.m. Tuesday.

**Tropical Storm Warning Canceled as Irma weakens… but gusty winds and 2 to 3 inches of rainfall still expected**

All watches and warnings have been canceled.

Hurricane Irma has weakened to a category 1 hurricane over central Florida and will continue to weaken as it moves northwest. It is expected to weaken to a tropical storm later this morning over southern Georgia/Alabama. As it arrives over the Tennessee Valley late this evening into Tuesday morning, it is expected to weaken to a tropical depression spreading 2 to 3 inches of rainfall with isolated amounts up to 4 inches across the area. Winds are also expected to be between 20 to 25 MPH with higher gusts up to 40 to 45 MPH. Since the forecast winds are expected to be below tropical storm force, have cancelled the tropical storm warnings and replaced with a wind advisory in effect from 3 PM this afternoon through early Tuesday morning.

The remnants of Hurricane Irma Expected to Impact Much of the Tennessee Valley Monday into Tuesday… .Hurricane Irma will continue to move northward out of the Florida panhandle and into western Georgia late Sunday and into Monday. The storm is expected to weaken to a tropical depression as it begins to move northwest across northern Alabama and into western Tennessee. Wind speeds are expected to increase into the 20 to 25 MPH range with gusts to 40 to 45 MPH at times, as the remnant tropical system passes to the northwest.

The National Weather Service in Huntsville has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to 4 AM CDT Tuesday for Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Cullman Counties.
