With SEC play fully underway and the SEC Baseball Tournament at the Hoover Met in Hoover right around the corner, teams from the Southeastern Conference are all jockeying for position and looking to earn a spot. Here is a conference breakdown by division.

SEC EAST

South Carolina sits atop the SEC East with a 5-1 conference record and is 17-6 overall with their latest wins coming over the Alabama Crimson Tide whom they took two out of three over the weekend in South Carolina. The Gamecocks will return to SEC play starting March 31 when they travel to Auburn for a three-game series over the weekend.

Kentucky is also 5-1 in the conference and boasts an 18-7 record overall. The Wildcats took two out of three from Ole Miss this week and will welcome in the Vanderbilt Commodores over the weekend.

Missouri comes in at no. 3 in the SEC East with a conference record of 4-2 and is 21-3 overall.  The Tigers swept the Alabama Crimson Tide in a weekend series that started on March 17 but dropped two out of three to Arkansas this weekend. Missouri looks to get things back on track when they host the Florida Gators in a three-game series starting this Friday.

Vanderbilt is in the middle of the pack with a 3-3 SEC record this season and is 16-9 overall. After falling to no. 13 Ole Miss two games to one last weekend, the Commodores bounced back to win their weekend series with the 23rd ranked Texas A&M Aggies. They will continue SEC play this weekend as they travel to Kentucky.

Although they boast a 16-9 winning record, the Florida Gators have had a rough go of it in the SEC, going just 2-4.  The Gators picked up their first two SEC wins this weekend as they shocked the fourth ranked LSU Tigers, winning the series. They look to keep the momentum going when they travel to Mizzou to take in the Tigers this weekend.

With one of the two losing records in the division, the Georgia Bulldogs have had a rough season thus far. They are 1-5 in SEC play and 9-15 overall. Their solitary SEC win came this weekend when they managed to salvage one game of the three-game set with the Auburn Tigers. They hope they can get on track when they travel to Knoxville this weekend to take on the struggling Tennessee Volunteers.

Tennessee is the only team in the SEC without a conference win. Although they are 13-8 overall, they are 0-6 in conference play. They hope to change that stat this weekend as they welcome the Georgia Bulldogs to town.

SEC West

Arkansas not only owns the top spot in the SEC East but they also hold the best record in the entire SEC. They are 5-1 in conference and 20-5 overall. The only blemish on the conference record for the Razorbacks came this weekend when Missouri managed to steal a game. Arkansas looks to continue their winning ways this weekend when they travel to the Joe to take on Alabama.

Just a half game behind Arkansas are the vastly improved Auburn Tigers. Auburn is 5-1 in conference and 20-6 overall. The Tigers’ only SEC loss also came this weekend as they dropped one out of three to Georgia. Auburn will welcome the South Carolina Gamecocks this weekend in a battle of top 25 teams.

Third in the SEC West sits the LSU Tigers at 4-2 in conference and 18-7 overall. After sweeping Georgia last weekend, LSU lost their first SEC series of the season this weekend to Florida. The Tigers hope to point things back in the right direction starting on March 30 when they welcome Texas A&M to town.

Ole Miss comes in fourth in the SEC West with a conference record of 3-3 and an overall record of 15-9. After dropping two of three to Kentucky over the weekend, they hope to get back on track against Mississippi State starting Thursday.

Mississippi State is also 3-3 in the SEC with a 15-10 overall record. They swept the Tennessee Vols this weekend and hope to do the same to in-state rival Ole Miss when they travel to Oxford for a weekend series starting Thursday.

Texas A&M has a 16-9 overall record but has faltered in SEC play, going 1-5. Their one win came this weekend in a series loss to Vanderbilt. They have another tough test in front of them starting Thursday when they travel to Baton Rouge to take in the no. 4 LSU Tigers.

Last in the SEC West is the Alabama Crimson Tide with a 1-5 conference record and 11-12 record overall. Their one SEC win came Friday in the series opener against South Carolina. Alabama will face in-state rival Auburn Tuesday, then open a three-game weekend series with Arkansas starting Friday.
