Senior Outreach Organization performs Heehaw Show at Hanceville Civic Center

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The Senior Outreach Organization performed their Heehaw Show at the Hanceville Civic Center on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The cast, directed by Jamie Looney, is made up of seniors from the Outreach Organization. The seniors came from Cullman, Hanceville, Jasper and as far as Birmingham and Gardendale. The cast practiced two or three times a week for three months to perfect their own rendition of The Heehaw Show. They performed some jokes and skits written by Looney with scenes at Archie’s Barber Shop and Lulu’s Truck Stop. The crowd loved the classic songs “Rose Colored Glasses,” “Five Pounds of Possum,” “How to Catch a Man” and “Mountain Dew.”

  • Margie Johnson – Gossip Girls/ Where Oh Where
  • Dwight Johnson – Earl/ Barber Shop
  • Huey Ray – Orval

  • Yonnie Manley – Nurse Goodbody

  • Matthew Looney – Hank Williams

Looney said, “It takes a lot to put this production on, not just singing and dancing and ‘heehawing,’ but musical people, strong people and smart people.” She also thanked Mayor Nail and the town of Hanceville for allowing the seniors to use the civic center, “I appreciate Hanceville for letting us use their building, and I appreciate all of you that have come to see us.” Admittance was $10 per ticket. The funds go back into the Senior Outreach Organization to continue to fund their ability to get together and play music and perform skits. The Outreach Center meets at the Donald Greene Senior Center every Monday at 1:00 p.m.
